Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 4, 2026

This policy explains what personal information Blacksy Immigration Law Firm (“we”, “us”) collects through blacksyimmigration.com, when you contact us and when you book a consultation, and how we handle it.

Who is responsible

Blacksy Immigration Law Firm, Toronto, Ontario, is responsible for the personal information described here. We have designated a person in charge of the protection of personal information. You can reach them at info@blacksyimmigration.com (Attention: Privacy Officer).

What this policy covers

This policy covers information collected through this website, our booking page and first contact with us by email.

If you become a client, your file is governed by our retainer agreement and by a lawyer’s professional duty of confidentiality under the Law Society of Ontario’s Rules of Professional Conduct. We also treat what you tell us about your situation before you retain us as confidential. Confidentiality is not the same as solicitor-client privilege, and whether a particular communication is privileged depends on the circumstances. If your matter is sensitive, describe it in general terms first and we will tell you how to share the details.

What we collect

When you contact us. The contact form asks for your name, email address and what you need help with. If you email us, we receive your message and any attachments. If you send us your email address through any form on the site, we use it only to respond to you.

When you book a consultation. Our booking calendar is run by Cal.com. You give your name, email address and what the meeting is about, and you may add notes and the email addresses of guests. Paid consultations are charged by card through Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe; we do not see or store your full card number. We receive a record of the payment. Online consultations take place on Google Meet.

When you browse the site. We use Google Analytics and Framer’s built-in analytics to understand, in aggregate, which pages are visited, how visitors arrived, the type of device and browser, and approximate location (city or country). We also record when a form is sent, when an email or booking link is clicked, and when a booking is completed, so we can see which pages lead people to get in touch. These records show that the action happened, not what you wrote. Your name, email address and message are not sent to Google Analytics.

Please do not send passport scans, immigration documents, or health or financial details through the contact form or in a first email. If we work together, we will tell you how to send documents securely.

How we use it

We use personal information to:

  • reply to your inquiry and assess whether we can help;

  • schedule, hold and charge for consultations, and issue refunds;

  • check for conflicts of interest before taking on a matter, as the Law Society of Ontario requires;

  • understand how the site is used, improve it and keep it secure;

  • keep the records the law and our professional obligations require.

We do not use it for any other purpose without your consent, unless the law requires or permits it.

Consent

When you contact us or book a consultation, you agree to our use of the information you provide for that purpose. You can withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual limits, by emailing us. If you do, we may not be able to help with your matter.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the website and the practice, and only for that purpose:

  • Framer B.V.: Hosts the website, delivers contact form messages to us, provides cookie-free site statistics. Netherlands and other countries, including the United States.

  • Google LLC: Google Workspace (our email and file storage), Google Analytics, Google Meet. United States and other countries.

  • Cal.com, Inc.: Booking calendar. Mainly the United States.

  • Stripe: Card payments and refunds. United States.

  • Our practice-management and accounting software providers: Client and inquiry records, billing. Canada or other countries, depending on the provider.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, for example under a court order, or to protect our legal rights.

Information processed outside Canada and Quebec

Your information may be stored or processed outside Canada, and outside Quebec if you live there, mainly in the United States and the European Union. While it is there, it is subject to local law, and courts, law enforcement or national security authorities there may be able to access it.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected for, or as long as the law and our professional obligations require, for example for conflict checks and financial records. We then delete it or make it anonymous. Google Analytics data linked to cookies is deleted automatically after 14 months.

Cookies and similar technologies

  • _ga and _ga_<ID> cookies: Visitor and visit statistics (up to 2 years; shorter in some browsers). Set by Google Analytics.

  • Framer analytics: Daily visit counts without cookies or lasting identifiers. Set by Framer.

  • Booking calendar: Runs the booking and payment steps on the Contact page and on our booking pages. Set by Cal.com.

Our Cal.com booking pages also report visits and completed bookings to our Google Analytics account.

We use Google Analytics only for statistics. Google signals is turned off, we do not run ads, and we do not use Analytics data for advertising or remarketing. Our Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn links are plain links; those services do not load on our site unless you click through.

To opt out, block or delete cookies in your browser settings (the site still works), or install Google’s opt-out add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Google explains how it uses data from sites that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

How we protect it

We use established service providers with appropriate security measures and limit access to the people who need it. No transmission or storage is completely secure.

Your rights

You can ask us:

  • whether we hold personal information about you, and for a copy;

  • to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;

  • to withdraw your consent;

  • to delete information we no longer need.

Email info@blacksyimmigration.com. We may need to confirm your identity, and we will reply within 30 days. We may have to keep some information, for example records the law or Law Society rules require, or information protected by a duty of confidentiality to someone else. If we refuse a request, we will explain why.

You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or, in Quebec, the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec (cai.gouv.qc.ca).

Quebec

See “Who is responsible” for our person in charge of the protection of personal information. Google Analytics produces statistics about visitors’ devices, approximate location and browsing on this site; you can switch it off as described under “Cookies and similar technologies”. You may also ask, where the law allows, that information be de-indexed or no longer disseminated, and receive computerized information you gave us in a structured, commonly used format.

European Union and United Kingdom

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: steps you ask us to take before a contract, and performing it (inquiries, bookings, payments); legal obligations (financial records, conflict checks); and our legitimate interests in understanding how the site is used and keeping it secure (analytics, spam protection). You also have the rights to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to complain to your data protection authority. The European Commission recognizes Canada as providing adequate protection for personal data held by businesses subject to PIPEDA. Our US providers rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or the Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

Türkiye

Where Turkish Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK) applies, Blacksy Immigration Law Firm is the data controller. We process your data for the purposes and on the grounds described above, including steps toward a contract with you and establishing, exercising or protecting legal rights. Your data is transferred abroad (to Canada, and to our providers in the United States and the EU) as permitted under Article 9 of the KVKK. To exercise your rights under Article 11, email info@blacksyimmigration.com. We will reply within 30 days.

Our articles link to government websites and other sources. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave our site.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when our practices change and revise the date above. If a change materially affects information we already hold, we will tell the people affected.
